On December 6, City Year’s CareForce partnered with San Francisco Recreation & Parks to lead 260 volunteers in a day of community education, park improvement, and habitat restoration.

Participants began the day learning about the history and environment of the Bayview Hunters Point neighborhood from Linda Fadeke Richardson, a longtime community environmental justice leader and current Chairperson of the Hunters Point  Community Advisory Committee. Volunteers then moved out to restore bioswales and planters on the Hunters Point site, build new benches and clean up India Basin, and plant native species and pick up trash in Herons Head Park.
