SF Rec & Parks' Garden Resource Day a Hit

On Saturday, September 27, the Urban Agriculture Program of the San Francisco Recreation & Park Department (SFRPD) put on on their first Garden Resource Day at HuntersPointSF. 675 San Francisco residents showed up to the site, where SFRPD staff distributed 300 plant starts and 30 cubic yards of compost, plus numerous seeds and plenty of advice from expert gardeners.

The Urban Agruculture Program has held previous Garden Resource Days at other sites, but participants reported that the HuntersPointSF location made for a safer and smoother experience!

SFRPD manages and supports over 42 community gardens across the city. Many gardens have waiting lists for individual plots. Add to that the many resident gardeners and school gardens and you can see that San Francisco is a city that loves growing!

If you would love some help with your garden, the Urban Agriculture program will host another Garden Resource Day at HuntersPointSF on November 1, 2025 (registration required).
